HR Manager (fixed term contract)
Hands-on HR Manager (8 months) needed to keep people operations running smoothly during parental leave. Pragmatic, governance-minded, and ready to make an impact.
Aula Energy is looking for a hands-on, delivery-oriented HR Manager to keep our people operations running smoothly during a parental leave period (8 months).
This role is well‑suited to someone who thrives in high‑change environments, where priorities can shift as the business evolves - and who brings the maturity, judgement, and pragmatism to adapt quickly without losing momentum or rigour.
Aula operates a lean, sponsor‑backed model with strong governance, clear accountabilities, and an engaged Board and leadership team. We move at pace, make deliberate decisions, and this role requires operating with confidence, discretion, and sound judgement.
This is a practical, sleeves‑rolled‑up role. You’ll be responsible for day‑to‑day HR delivery while also supporting people initiatives that enable Aula’s evolution.
What You'll Do
You will act as a trusted, pragmatic HR operator across the business, with responsibility for:
Delivering end‑to‑end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, performance processes, learning and development management and coordination, and employee lifecycle management
Acting as a first point of contact for employees, providing clear, commercially grounded advice in a dynamic environment
Supporting the implementation of people programs and change initiatives, adapting as priorities shift while maintaining a sharp focus on excellence and delivery
Ensuring policies, processes, and systems are compliant and fit‑for‑purpose
Championing a culture aligned to Aula Energy’s values, pace, and high‑performance standards
Identifying and delivering practical improvements to HR processes and employee experience including opportunities for automation and AI
Overseeing compliant pay, time, and attendance in a disciplined governance setting
This role requires someone who can balance pace with judgement, even as priorities change - and who understands when to escalate, adapt, or act independently.
Who You Are
You’re likely to be successful in this role if you bring:
Proven experience in a hands‑on HR generalist or HR Manager role, ideally in fast‑paced, project‑driven, or sponsor‑backed environments
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in high‑change contexts, where priorities can shift and judgement and stakeholder engagement matters
Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and confidence operating within a well‑governed organisation
The maturity to balance pace with discipline, and autonomy with alignment
Comfort working with a governance model that expects clear thinking, practical solutions, and follow‑through
Experience in management consulting or similarly high‑tempo environments (highly regarded)
A pragmatic, commercially minded approach
A genuine interest in building inclusive, engaged, high‑performance cultures
Resilience, adaptability, and sound judgement when navigating ambiguity or competing demands
