Head of Corporate Development, 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Aula Energy is seeking an experienced Head of Corporate Development to join the business on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover a period of parental leave.
This is a strategically important leadership role responsible for driving enterprise growth through acquisitions, strategic partnerships, investment origination, capital deployment and portfolio optimisation.
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating and executing opportunities that create long-term shareholder value, expand Aula Energy's development pipeline and strengthen our position as a leading renewable energy independent power producer across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the future direction of a rapidly growing renewable energy business, while working closely with development, finance, technical, commercial, legal and operational teams to shape investment decisions and portfolio outcomes.
What you'll do
As Head of Corporate Development, you will:
Develop and execute Aula Energy's corporate development strategy in line with enterprise growth objectives and long-term value creation.
Identify, assess and lead acquisitions, divestments, development pipeline acquisitions and strategic investment opportunities.
Establish and manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures and co-investment opportunities that support portfolio growth and risk sharing.
Support the optimisation of project development opportunities through commercial input on project sizing, configuration, capital expenditure assumptions and market positioning.
Maintain and enhance the corporate financial model and enterprise valuation models to support investment decision-making.
Assess portfolio performance and investment opportunities to support disciplined capital allocation and value creation.
Lead financial, commercial, legal and technical due diligence activities and manage internal and external advisers.
Prepare investment committee, executive and Board papers, valuation analyses and transaction recommendations.
Build scalable transaction execution and governance frameworks that support future growth.
Contribute to enterprise strategy, business planning and executive decision-making as a senior leader within the organisation.
Leverage AI and digital capabilities to improve analysis, decision-making and transaction execution processes.
What you'll bring
You are a highly commercial leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on transaction experience and a strong understanding of infrastructure and energy markets.
You'll bring:
Significant senior leadership experience in corporate development, infrastructure, renewable energy, investment banking, private equity, project finance or related sectors.
Demonstrated success leading complex mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships or investment transactions.
Advanced financial modelling, valuation and commercial analysis capability.
Strong understanding of project finance, investment governance, transaction structuring and capital allocation.
Experience assessing and executing investments across infrastructure, energy or renewable energy markets.
Exceptional negotiation, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to engage effectively with executive leaders, Boards, investors, developers, advisers and commercial counterparties.
Strong strategic judgement and the ability to balance risk, opportunity and long-term value creation.
A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Law or a related discipline.
Experience within renewable energy, infrastructure or energy transition markets will be highly regarded.
